Overview

Most paving is worth saving

When paving goes wrong, the first quote is often to rip it all out. Usually that's not necessary. A sunken section, a lifted patch or weedy joints are almost always a fixable local problem, not a reason to replace a whole driveway.

The key is to fix the cause, not just the symptom. Paving sinks because the base failed there, or an edge gave way, or water was pooling. We diagnose why it happened, put that right, and re-lay the affected area so it doesn't simply sink again.

And if the honest answer is that the base was never built and the whole surface is failing, we'll tell you that too — but more often than not, a targeted repair is the right call.

Kiln-dried jointing sand swept between pavers

In detail

The repairs we do most

Diagnose the cause, then fix it properly.

Sunken and uneven sections

We lift the affected pavers, rebuild and re-compact the base underneath, correct the level and falls, and relay the same pavers. Done right, the repaired area is as solid as new — because the base is.

Loose, cracked or lifted blocks

Individual damaged pavers are lifted and swapped for matching ones, and loose areas are re-bedded. We keep an eye out for the reason — often a failed edge restraint that also needs attention.

Weeds and washed-out joints

Weeds grow where jointing sand has washed out. We clear the joints, re-sand with the right material (including polymeric/stabilised sand where it helps), and the weeds have nowhere to take hold.

Ponding and drainage fixes

If your paving holds water after rain, the falls are wrong or a drain has failed. We re-lay to a correct fall and add or clear drainage so water runs where it should.

Cleaning and sealing

A pressure clean and, where suitable, a seal can bring tired paving back to life, enrich the colour and make it easier to keep clean.

Why us for this

We fix the reason, not just the symptom

Anyone can drop a sunken paver back in — and watch it sink again a month later. We rebuild the base or restraint that failed underneath, so the repair actually lasts. It's the difference between a patch and a fix.

Is it cheaper to repair paving than replace it?

Almost always, yes. A sunken section or weedy joints are usually a localised fix costing a fraction of a full re-lay. We'll only recommend replacement if the surface is failing throughout.

Why does my driveway keep sinking in the same spot?

Because the base failed there — often poor original compaction, a buried soft spot, or water pooling. Dropping the paver back won't hold; we rebuild the base underneath so it stays level.

How do I stop weeds growing in my paving?

Weeds appear when jointing sand washes out. We clear and re-sand the joints — using polymeric or stabilised sand where it helps — so seed has nowhere to root. The odd top-up keeps them out.

Can you match my existing pavers?

Usually — we reuse your own pavers for the repaired area wherever possible, and where we can't, we match the colour and shape as closely as the range allows.

Do you clean and seal paving too?

Yes. A pressure clean and, where the paver suits it, a seal will lift tired paving, enrich the colour and make it easier to keep clean.
