Interlocking pavers are the workhorse of South African paving — shaped so each block locks into its neighbours and spreads load across the base. They're our first recommendation for most driveways, and they come in a colour and shape for every home.

Why interlocking pavers win on a driveway
An interlocking paver isn't just a rectangle — its shape and the way it's laid let the whole field of blocks work together. Under a turning, braking wheel, that interlock stops individual pavers creeping and lifting the way a straight-laid or poured surface fails.
Because the surface is made of many small units on a flexible bedding layer, it moves with minor ground shifts instead of cracking, and any block that's ever stained or damaged lifts straight out and swaps in. That's a repair you simply can't do on concrete or tar.

Choosing the right interlocking paver
Three decisions matter: thickness, colour and pattern. We'll guide all three at the site visit.
Thickness — match it to the traffic
For a patio or walkway a 50mm paver is fine. For a residential driveway you want 60mm. For a commercial or industrial surface carrying trucks and forklifts, step up to 80mm. Over-thin is the most common spec mistake we're called to fix.
Colour — match it to the house
Interlocking pavers come in charcoal, autumn tones, terracotta, tan and multi-blends. We bring samples so you can hold them against your brick and roof rather than guessing off a screen. A contrasting border lifts the whole look.
Pattern — herringbone for driveways
Herringbone at 45 or 90 degrees gives the strongest interlock and is the right pattern under vehicles. Stretcher bond and basketweave suit patios and paths. The pattern is structural, not just decorative.

They're concrete or clay paving blocks shaped so each locks against its neighbours. Laid on a compacted base with restrained edges, the whole surface works as one flexible unit that spreads load and resists shifting.
Interlocking pavers or clay brick?
Both are excellent. Concrete interlocking pavers offer the widest range of shapes, thicknesses and colours and are usually more economical; clay brick pavers keep their colour beautifully and give a timeless look. We'll help you choose for your home.
Which thickness do I need?
50mm for patios and paths, 60mm for a residential driveway, 80mm for commercial or industrial traffic. Getting this right is the single most important spec decision.
What colours are available?
Charcoal, autumn, terracotta, tan and multi-tone blends across the major SA ranges. We bring samples to hold against your brick and roof.
How long do they last?
On a properly built base, 20 to 30 years and well beyond, with little more than the odd sweep and a top-up of jointing sand.
